Odisha to Enforce e‑Detection for Vehicle Compliance from September 1

Bhubaneswar: Starting September 1, 2026, Odisha will roll out an e‑Detection system to strengthen enforcement of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.

The initiative mandates that all vehicles carry valid Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC) and insurance.

Under the new system, vehicles found without valid documents will automatically receive e‑Challans.

If challans remain unpaid beyond the statutory period, the vehicle will be flagged as “Not to be Transacted,” preventing further operations such as PUC testing.

Authorities emphasise that the move aims to promote traffic discipline, environmental compliance, third‑party protection, and road safety through technology‑enabled monitoring.

Vehicle owners are advised to verify their PUCC, insurance, and challan status on official portals to avoid penalties.

This digital enforcement marks a significant step toward cleaner roads and improved governance across Odisha.
