Odisha Sets Sights on Becoming India’s Food Processing Hub

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced the state’s ambitious plan to become India’s leading hub for food processing industries.

Highlighting Odisha’s strengths—abundant agricultural produce, skilled manpower, and robust connectivity through rail, road, and ports—Majhi emphasised the state’s readiness to attract large‑scale investments.

He cited Koraput’s nationally recognised coffee and Nabarangpur’s high‑quality maize as examples of Odisha’s agricultural potential.

The state’s long coastline also offers opportunities for marine‑based food industries.

To support this vision, the government has assured investors of land, utilities, and policy backing, with a focus on export‑friendly measures and employment generation.

Several MoUs were signed with leading food‑processing companies, marking a significant step toward industrial collaboration and rural empowerment.
