Odisha Schools to Begin Early Summer Vacation from April 27
Bhubaneswar, April 24: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced an early summer vacation for all schools in Odisha starting April 27, 2026, in view of the intense heatwave conditions sweeping across the state.
The decision aims to safeguard students from rising temperatures, with several districts already recording maximum temperatures above 44°C. The School and Mass Education Department has been directed to issue formal notifications to all government and private institutions.
The Chief Minister emphasized that student health and safety remain the government’s top priority, urging citizens to follow heatwave advisories and stay hydrated.
This proactive measure reflects Odisha’s commitment to public welfare and climate‑responsive governance.
