Odisha Reviews Fuel Supply Amid Global Tensions, Assures Stability
Bhubaneswar, April 11: Chief Secretary Anu Garg chaired a high-level meeting of the State Crisis Management Group at Lok Seva Bhavan to review the availability of petrol, diesel, and LPG in Odisha against the backdrop of global geo-political challenges.
Officials confirmed that fuel supplies remain largely stable, with adequate stocks of urea fertiliser for the upcoming Kharif season.
LPG distribution is being closely monitored, prioritising schools, hospitals, hostels, anganwadis, food centres, and prisons, while commercial allocations for hotels and industries have been increased.
To ensure transparency, a Delivery Confirmation Code (DAC) system has been introduced to curb irregularities in LPG distribution.
The state is also pushing for PNG (domestic) and CNG (transport) expansion under the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network, marking a shift toward cleaner fuel alternatives.
Enforcement agencies have intensified raids against illegal gas cylinders and smuggling, with violators booked under the Essential Commodities Act.
Citizens were urged to avoid panic buying or hoarding, as control rooms at state and district levels remain active 24/7 to monitor fuel stocks and ensure safe LPG transportation.
This proactive review highlights Odisha’s commitment to energy security, transparency, and sustainable fuel transition in the face of global uncertainties.
