Odisha Records 36.18 Lakh Ha Paddy Coverage in Kharif 2026

Odisha has reported 36.18 lakh hectares of paddy cultivation during the ongoing Kharif 2026‑27 season, according to provisional figures released by the Agriculture Minister.

Mayurbhanj district leads with 3.15 lakh hectares, followed by Bargada (2.59 lakh ha), Ganjam (2.12 lakh ha), Sundargarh (1.98 lakh ha), and Balangir (1.86 lakh ha).

Compared to last year’s 39.42 lakh ha, the current coverage reflects a decline of 3.24 lakh ha.

However, seven districts — including Bargada, Khordha, Puri, Kataka, Nuapada, Jagatsinghpur, and Nayagada — have shown increases in paddy area.

The Minister clarified that these are first advance estimates, and final figures may rise once the season concludes.
