Odisha Raids Net 8,349 LPG Cylinders in Statewide Crackdown

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department has intensified its crackdown on illegal LPG stockpiling across the state.

In a sweeping operation, raids were conducted at 3,808 locations, leading to the seizure of 8,349 LPG cylinders.

Authorities have registered 46 FIRs and initiated 495 cases under the Essential Commodities Act. So far, nine individuals have been arrested in connection with unauthorised storage and black‑marketing of LPG.

Officials emphasised that the drive aims to ensure smooth supply to genuine consumers and curb profiteering practices.

The department has assured that similar enforcement actions will continue to safeguard public interest.
