Nepal Flash Floods Strand 51 Tourists, Including 7 From Odisha’s Bhadrak

A group of 51 Indian tourists, including seven from Bhadrak district in Odisha, were stranded in Nepal after flash floods and landslides disrupted their travel plans.

The tourists, part of a group organised by Kailash Travellers of Kolkata, initially took shelter near the Manakamana Temple when floodwaters and mudslides blocked their route.

Rescue teams from Nepal Police and local authorities evacuated the group as the Trishuli River overflowed, moving them safely by ropeway to Bhairahawa (Siddharthanagar).

The tourists are currently staying at a lodge in Bhairahawa.

The floods also impacted river systems in Rasuwa district, including Lhende Khola and Bhotekoshi, further complicating travel routes.

The group had planned to travel nearly 200 km from Kathmandu by boat but was forced to abandon the journey after covering only 70 km due to rising waters.

This incident highlights the vulnerability of tourist routes in Nepal during monsoon season and the swift response of local authorities in ensuring safety.
