Odisha Police Rolls Out ‘Daman’ Drive to Tackle Crime Before Festivities

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police has rolled out a 10‑day special drive titled “Daman” to intensify its crackdown on criminals, habitual offenders, and anti‑social elements ahead of the festive season.

Running from September 21 to 30, 2026, the campaign focuses on curbing illegal liquor trade, narcotics smuggling, arms trafficking, and organised crime such as extortion.

Key measures include execution of pending non‑bailable warrants, preventive legal actions, and coordinated raids across districts.

Border checkpoints will be sealed to block cross‑border criminal movement.

The initiative brings together district police, railway police, Commissionerate Police, and specialised units in a unified effort to ensure peace and safety during the festive period.

Police officials emphasised that “Daman” is aimed at creating a secure environment for citizens, reinforcing law and order, and deterring criminal networks during the celebrations.
