Odisha Police Felicitates Medal-Winning Athletes at National Meets

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police honoured twelve athletes who brought laurels to the force at national-level competitions in Wushu, Taekwondo, Karate, and Pencak Silat.

The felicitation ceremony was held at the Commissionerate Police Headquarters, with Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania praising the athletes for their discipline, perseverance, and teamwork.

The medalists excelled at the 11th All India Police Judo Cluster (2026–27) in Hyderabad and the 5th Senior National India Taekwondo Poomsae Championship 2026 in Pune.

Silver medalists received Rs 4,000 each, while bronze medalists were awarded Rs 3,000.

Standout performers included WC/27 Sashwati Nayak, who won a silver in Judo Cluster and a bronze in Taekwondo Nationals; C/45 Satyaprakash Mahanti, who secured dual bronze medals; and WC/968 Bratati Biswaprava Pati, who clinched silver and bronze in Karate (individual and team).

Senior officials including ADG (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar and Commissioner Suresh Devadatta Singh attended the event, coordinated by Sports Officer Neelamadhab Swain.

The ceremony underscored Odisha Police’s commitment to nurturing sporting talent and encouraging excellence beyond duty.
