Odisha Launches Digital Census 2026 with Self‑Enumeration and House Listing

Bhubaneswar, April 13: Odisha has rolled out India’s first fully digital Census, offering citizens the option of self‑enumeration through the official portal until April 15, 2026.

Already, more than 1.76 lakh families have submitted their household details online.

From April 16 to May 15, trained enumerators — primarily school teachers — will conduct door‑to‑door house listing using a mobile app, ensuring comprehensive coverage across all 30 districts.

District Collectors will serve as Principal Census Officers, supported by Additional Collectors, Tahsildars, and municipal officials.

Self‑enumeration data will be verified during field visits to maintain accuracy.

To boost awareness, the government has launched a Census song and integrated advanced tools like the CMMS Portal for block creation.

Citizens can reach the Census Directorate via the toll‑free number 1855 for assistance.

Officials emphasised that this digital initiative marks a technological leap in population data collection, laying the foundation for effective development planning, resource allocation, and policy‑making.
