Odisha Govt Orders Urgent Road Repairs After Monsoon Damage

Bhubaneswar: Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan has directed immediate repair of roads and bridges across Odisha following extensive damage caused by heavy monsoon rains, landslides, and flooding.

Key stretches in Koraput, Bhadrak, Balasore, Cuttack, Ganjam, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Paradip, and other districts have been prioritised, including the Nakhara–Niali, Adasapur–Jagatsinghpur, and Kalinga Ghat routes.

The Minister instructed engineers to remain on‑site during repair works, conduct quality checks personally, and submit progress reports every 15 days.

Strict action will be taken against negligence or poor contractor performance.

Public complaints on social media about deteriorating roads are to be treated as urgent signals, not ignored.

Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh emphasised faster tender processes and better use of WIMS software to avoid delays.

Senior officials and engineers joined the high‑level review meeting, underscoring the urgency of visible, timely repairs.

The directive highlights the government’s push for accountability and quick results to restore public confidence in road infrastructure.
