Odisha Fire Safety Audit 2026: 1,431 Establishments Checked in 12 Days
Odisha Fire and Emergency Services has completed a sweeping fire safety audit across the state under the “Surakhit Odisha, Viksit Odisha” initiative.
Conducted between September 15 and 26, the 12-day campaign inspected 1,431 establishments, including commercial, government, and non-government facilities.
The audits were carried out zone-wise: 547 establishments in the Central Zone (Cuttack), 454 in the Southern Zone (Brahmapur), and 427 in the Northern Zone (Sambalpur).
A special team led by Chief Fire Officer Debendra Kumar Swain also reviewed three major establishments.
Key checks included the validity of fire safety certificates, functionality of fire-fighting equipment, accessibility of emergency exits, and readiness of evacuation systems.
Staff members were trained in basic fire safety, evacuation drills, and extinguisher use.
Where deficiencies were found, notices were issued with deadlines for compliance.
Officials confirmed that inspections will continue in a more extensive, regular, and stringent manner to ensure public safety across Odisha.
