IMD Warns of Fresh Cyclonic System Brewing in Andaman Sea as Depression Weakens Over MP-UP Border
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that the depression over northeast Madhya Pradesh and northern Chhattisgarh has moved north-northwest rapidly at 25 km/h, reaching the MP-UP border near Rewa, Sidhi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, and Fursatganj.
The system is expected to weaken into a low-pressure area over Uttar Pradesh within the next 12 hours.
Meanwhile, a new upper-air cyclonic circulation has formed over Thailand and Myanmar.
Forecasts indicate that it will move toward the North Andaman Sea and Ayeyarwady region by September 27, before advancing into the northeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh within two days.
The IMD has issued warnings of heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and squally winds across Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, eastern India, and the Andaman region.
Odisha remains under a Yellow Warning for the next 24 hours, with alerts for downpours and lightning. Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious and take necessary safety measures.
