Odisha Extends PMFBY Registration Till August 31
The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) registration deadline for Kharif 2026 in Odisha has been extended until August 31, 2026, following a request from the Odisha Cooperative Department.
The move aims to maximise farmer participation and safeguard crops against natural calamities and uncertainties.
The scheme covers loanee and non‑loanee farmers, as well as sharecroppers.
However, in districts such as Ganjam, Kalahandi, Puri, Subarnapur, Baragada, Bhadrak, Gajapati, Jajpur, and Jagatsinghpur, the extension applies only to loanee farmers.
In other districts, all eligible farmers can register.
Farmers will receive free crop insurance coverage up to five acres, paying only Rs 1 per plot for bank account verification.
The state government bears the premium share, while the Centre provides subsidy support.
Notified crops include paddy, maize, groundnut, ragi, cotton, arhar, ginger, and turmeric.
Registration can be completed through PACS/LAMPCS, cooperative and commercial banks, CSCs, insurance representatives, and approved digital platforms.
Sharecroppers may enrol with landowner consent. Officials from ARCS, DRCS, and CDAO offices are deployed to assist farmers.
Farmers who have not yet registered are urged to complete the process before the August 31 deadline.
