Odisha CM Suspends Two Senior Officials After Arrests

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has ordered the suspension of two senior government officials following their arrests and subsequent judicial custody.

The suspended officers are Arun Kumar Biswal, Additional Secretary in the Commerce and Transport Department, and Sujit Kumar Roul, Senior Superintendent of Kataka Circle Jail.

According to government rules, any public servant detained for more than 48 hours must be suspended.

Acting on proposals submitted by their respective departments, the Chief Minister approved the suspension orders.

The Chief Minister’s Office confirmed the decision, stating that further departmental and legal proceedings will follow in connection with the cases against both officials.

This move underscores the state government’s commitment to accountability and adherence to service rules.
