Odisha CM Pushes for Higher Iron Ore Output, Industrial Expansion
Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chaired a high‑level meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan with mine leaseholders and industrialists, urging them to ramp up iron ore production to meet rising demand in steel and allied sectors.
Stressing compliance with Mine Development and Production Agreements (MDPA), the CM highlighted the need for timely dispatches and assured government support for production growth.
Majhi encouraged industrial expansion in mineral‑rich but underdeveloped districts to generate employment and strengthen local economies.
He announced the introduction of an annual auction calendar for 2026–27 to ensure the timely allocation of mineral blocks.
Industry leaders from Tata Steel, JSW, AMNS India, and OMC attended the meeting, with Indian Steel Association President Naveen Jindal expressing gratitude for the CM’s commitment.
Senior officials, including Chief Secretary Anu Garg and Development Commissioner Deoranjan Kumar Singh, were also present.
