Odisha Assembly Chaos: House Adjourned in 5 Minutes

Bhubaneswar: The second day of the Odisha Legislative Assembly session was marred by uproar, forcing an adjournment within five minutes of commencement.

Proceedings began at 10:30 AM but quickly descended into disorder as Congress MLAs staged protests against the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, wearing posters to highlight their opposition.

Simultaneously, BJD members raised slogans over the controversial book issue, adding to the turmoil.

The situation escalated when Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati threw protest posters onto the Deputy Speaker’s table during Zero Hour.

Despite repeated appeals for order by Deputy Speaker Bhabani Shankar Bhoi, legislators stormed the well of the House, shouting slogans and disrupting proceedings.

With no resolution in sight, the Deputy Speaker adjourned the House until 4 PM.

The disruption stalled several legislative discussions and public-interest matters, underscoring the deepening rift between the ruling and opposition parties.
