Odisha Approves ₹7.73 Crore for 707 School Projects Under Panchasakha Shiksha Setu
Bhubaneswar: In a significant boost to school infrastructure development in Odisha, the sixth Executive Council meeting of Panchasakha Shiksha Setu approved 707 development projects worth ₹7.73 crore across 29 districts of the state.
The decision reflects the growing role of alumni and community participation in improving educational institutions.
According to official information, alumni, parents, School Management Committee members, intellectuals, and various social organisations collectively contributed around ₹2.58 crore.
Through the scheme’s matching grant mechanism, the total value of approved projects reached approximately ₹7.74 crore.
The approved projects include classroom repairs, drinking water facilities, construction of boundary walls and school gates, campus beautification, greening initiatives, and installation of bicycle stands for students.
These interventions are expected to improve the learning environment and provide better infrastructure in government schools across Odisha.
Districts such as Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Jajpur, and Cuttack emerged as leading contributors, highlighting strong engagement from alumni networks and local communities in supporting educational development.
The meeting was chaired by Dr N. Thirumala Naik, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the School and Mass Education Department, who emphasised the importance of strengthening alumni-school connections and expanding community participation in educational initiatives.
To further enhance outreach and engagement, Panchasakha Shiksha Setu also announced two new initiatives.
An Alumni Podcast will feature inspiring stories of successful former students, while the District Spotlight social media campaign will showcase transformation projects undertaken in schools across Odisha.
These initiatives aim to motivate students and encourage greater public participation in the state’s education sector.
The latest approvals underline Odisha’s continued efforts to leverage community support and alumni partnerships to strengthen school infrastructure and create better educational opportunities for students statewide.
