Odisha Approves ₹3,406-Cr Semiconductor Plant Near Bhubaneswar
The Odisha government has approved a major investment proposal by SiCSem Private Limited to establish a silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductor manufacturing facility near Bhubaneswar.
The Unit Approval Committee of the Falta Special Economic Zone granted clearance for the project, which will be developed on 22 acres of land with an investment of ₹3,406.25 crore.
The plant is expected to strengthen India’s semiconductor ecosystem, reduce import dependency, and create significant employment opportunities in Odisha.
Officials highlighted that the project aligns with the state’s vision of becoming a hub for advanced technology and electronics manufacturing.
Industry experts believe the SiC semiconductor facility will play a crucial role in supporting electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, and power electronics, sectors that rely heavily on high‑efficiency chips.
The project is also expected to attract ancillary industries and boost Odisha’s position in India’s growing semiconductor landscape.
