Odisha Appoints 10 IAS Officers as Electoral Roll Observers for Voter List Revision
The Election Commission of India has appointed ten senior IAS officers as Electoral Roll Observers in Odisha to oversee the upcoming special intensive revision of the voter list.
The revision will use July 1, 2026, as the qualifying date, with the draft roll scheduled for release on July 5, 2026.
Each observer has been assigned multiple districts, including Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khordha, Nayagada, Bhubaneswar, and others.
They are required to conduct at least three visits during the revision period, inspect polling stations, and hold meetings with MPs, MLAs, and political parties.
Citizens will be able to meet observers directly to raise complaints regarding the voter list.
District administrations will publicise visit schedules and contact numbers to ensure transparency.
Observers have been instructed to pay special attention to constituencies with unusually high deletion or addition rates, ensuring that no eligible voter is removed and no ineligible name is added.
Reports will be submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha.
The claims and objections window will remain open from July 5 to August 4, 2026, allowing citizens to file applications using Forms 6, 7, and 8.
