Odisha Announces ₹1,000 Crore Flood Relief Package, Farmers at the Core of CM Majhi’s 10‑Point Plan

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has unveiled a Rs 1,000 crore relief package to support victims of the recent floods that have devastated six districts of Odisha, affecting nearly 9.4 lakh people.

The announcement came after a high‑level review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan, where the CM emphasised that “funds will not be a hurdle in restoring normalcy.”

The package prioritises farmers, with subsidies of Rs 8,500 per hectare for non-irrigated land, Rs 17,000 for irrigated land, and Rs 22,500 for perennial crops.

Additional measures include seed support through DBT, free vegetable kits, and a 75% subsidy on pest and disease management.

Livestock owners, fishermen, and artisans will also receive compensation for losses.

Relief efforts are underway with over 550 camps providing cooked food, while ODRAF, NDRF, and fire service teams continue rescue operations.

The CM personally inspected flood‑hit villages in Jajpur and Bhadrak, interacting with residents and reviewing relief arrangements.

The 10‑point plan also covers temporary repair of roads, canals, and embankments, conversion of short‑term Kharif loans into medium‑term loans, and financial assistance for household essentials.

Permanent restoration works will follow once floodwaters recede.
