Odia Language Empowerment: Governor Calls for Knowledge, Innovation, and Opportunity
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati has urged that Odia must evolve into a language of knowledge, skill development, innovation, and career opportunities.
Speaking at a state‑level seminar titled “Our Language – Our Pride and Vision for Developed Odisha @ 2036” organised by Viswamukti at Jaydev Bhavan, he emphasised that empowerment goes beyond everyday speech—it requires integration into professional and educational domains.
The Governor highlighted the importance of creating technical, scientific, and professional resources in Odia, alongside translations of legal texts, government schemes, and administrative documents to support Odia‑medium students.
He paid tribute to literary icons such as Jaydev, Sarala Das, and Upendra Bhanja, stressing the responsibility of each generation to enrich Odia heritage.
Looking ahead to Vikshit Odisha @ 2036, Dr Kambhampati advocated leveraging modern technology, digital platforms, and artificial intelligence to make Odia more relevant for youth.
He welcomed the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 for prioritising mother‑tongue education while encouraging bilingual proficiency.
The seminar also witnessed the release of Uthibaki Jatira Kankala, a poetry collection by Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan.
Several ministers, writers, and academics—including Suryabanshi Suraj, Babu Singh, Prof. Archana Nayak, and Prof. Biswaranjan—addressed the gathering, reinforcing the vision of Odia as a language of empowerment and opportunity.
