Rayagada Division Landslide Disrupts Train Services, Key Routes Cancelled
A landslide between Maligura and Chhatariput stations in the Rayagada Division of the East Coast Railway has severely disrupted train operations.
Authorities have prioritised passenger safety and track restoration, but several services have been cancelled or rerouted.
On September 26, the Rourkela–Jagdalpur Express (18107) was cancelled.
On September 27, multiple trains, including Kirandul–Visakhapatnam Passenger (58502), Visakhapatnam–Kirandul Passenger (58501), Kirandul–Visakhapatnam Express (18516), Visakhapatnam–Kirandul Express (18515), Jagdalpur–Rourkela Express (18108), and Bhubaneswar–Rourkela Intercity Express (22839/22840) were cancelled.
To manage the disruption, Koraput station has been designated as a temporary hub.
The Howrah–Jagdalpur Express (18005) and Bhubaneswar–Jagdalpur Hirakhand Express (18447) were short‑terminated at Koraput, while the Jagdalpur–Howrah Express (18006) and Jagdalpur–Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express (18448) short‑originated from Koraput.
Railway officials have advised passengers to check live train status before travel through official portals and enquiry systems.
Restoration work is underway to resume normal operations.
