Odia Cinema Celebrates 90 Years: CM Majhi’s Vision for Global Reach

Bhubaneswar, April 28: Odisha celebrated the 90th anniversary of Odia cinema today, marking nine decades since the release of the first Odia film Sita Bibaha on April 28, 1936.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi described the occasion as a “golden moment” in the state’s cultural history.

He praised Odia cinema for overcoming challenges and carving out a distinct identity for Odia language, art, and traditions on the global stage.

Majhi emphasised that Odia cinema is not just entertainment but a reflection of Odia society and a medium for cultural awakening.

He paid tribute to the actors, directors, producers, and artisans whose contributions have shaped the industry.

Looking ahead, the Chief Minister pledged full government support to elevate Odia cinema through modern technology and creativity, with the goal of achieving global recognition.
