Naveen Patnaik Slams Odisha Govt: “Law and Order Collapsed”
Bhubaneswar, May 2026: Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik has launched a sharp attack on the Odisha government, alleging that law and order in the state has collapsed.
Referring to the recent public assault of a man and woman in Berhampur, Patnaik described the incident as “inhuman and horrifying,” warning that such visuals have shaken the conscience of the people.
Patnaik accused the BJP government of allowing criminals to operate fearlessly while the police remain ineffective. “Where is the law? Where is the police?” he asked, demanding strict action against the culprits.
He further alleged that the administration is more focused on publicity events than ensuring public safety, claiming Odisha has been “handed over to criminals.”
The former Chief Minister cautioned that Odisha’s deteriorating law and order has drawn national criticism, urging the government to stop shielding offenders and restore public confidence.
