Naveen Patnaik Directs BJD Legal Front to Provide Free Legal Aid in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: BJD President and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik convened a meeting with members of the BJD Legal Front, urging them to intensify grassroots outreach and provide free legal aid to the poor and underprivileged.

Patnaik emphasised that the Legal Front must act as a bridge between citizens and the justice system, ensuring that ordinary people are not denied their rights due to financial constraints.

He directed members to hold the government accountable for delays or negligence in delivering justice.

Highlighting the need for expansion, Patnaik called for strengthening the Legal Front’s presence at district and block levels to make legal support more accessible across Odisha.

Senior members, including Milan Kanungo, Manoj Verma, Siddharth Das, and Suresh Barik, shared suggestions to broaden the initiative’s reach.

“This is the time to raise your voice against injustice to the common people.

Ensure that the poor receive free legal assistance so they can get justice from the system,” Patnaik said.

The move reflects BJD’s strategy to reposition itself as a proactive opposition force, blending legal advocacy with people‑centric initiatives ahead of upcoming local elections.
