Low-Pressure System to Bring Heavy Rain Across Odisha Till August 13
Bhubaneswar: A fresh low-pressure area has formed over southern Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining northern Odisha, extending up to 7.6 km above sea level.
The system is expected to trigger widespread rainfall across Odisha for the next four days.
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has issued an orange warning for very heavy rainfall in districts including Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, and Sambalpur.
A yellow alert has been sounded for several other districts.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30–40 km/h are likely during this period.
The weather office has cautioned fishermen about rough sea conditions and advised them to remain vigilant while venturing into coastal waters.
The heavy rainfall activity is expected to continue until August 13, 2026.
