Low Pressure Over Bay of Bengal Likely to Intensify into Depression

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that a low‑pressure area continues to persist over the North Bay of Bengal, close to the West Bengal–Bangladesh coasts.

Within the next 12 hours, the system is expected to become a well‑marked low‑pressure area, and within 24 hours, it may intensify into a depression moving northwestwards.

Authorities in West Bengal, Odisha, and Bangladesh are closely monitoring the situation, as the system could bring heavy rainfall and squally winds to coastal districts.

Residents in low‑lying and flood‑prone areas have been advised to remain alert.

The IMD is tracking the system’s movement and will issue further updates as it progresses inland.
