Knife Attack on Odisha PEO Sparks Safety Concerns

Malkangiri (Odisha): A Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO), Bijay Panda, was attacked in Bonda Ghati of Malkangiri district while inspecting housing construction under the PM Jan Man Yojana scheme.

According to reports, Panda had visited Dantipada village to review the progress of the housing project.

On his way back, a group of youths confronted him and allegedly assaulted him with a knife, leaving injuries on his back and leg.

Despite the attack, Panda managed to escape and lodged a written complaint at Mudulipada police station.

Police have confirmed an investigation is underway and assured strict action against the culprits.

Panda stated that the assailants appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

The incident has sparked concern over the safety of government officials during field inspections, leaving the local community shocked.
