Orissa HC Blocks NEET Candidate’s ‘Dual Quota’ Claim

Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court has denied admission to a NEET candidate seeking an MBBS seat under quota provisions, ruling that the aspirant attempted to claim a “dual privilege.”

The court observed that the candidate tried to benefit simultaneously from two reservation categories, which violated the principle of fair allocation.

The bench emphasised that quota benefits are designed to ensure equitable opportunities, not to be overlapped for personal advantage.

By rejecting the plea, the court reinforced the need for transparency and fairness in medical admissions.

Legal experts note that the judgment sets a precedent against the misuse of reservation policies, ensuring that candidates cannot exploit overlapping categories to secure seats.

The ruling is expected to influence future admission disputes and strengthen the integrity of the NEET selection process.
