Khordha Health Worker Nabbed Taking Bribe for Death Certificates
Odisha Vigilance officials on Wednesday apprehended a male health worker, Bibhuti Bhusan Sahoo, at Haladia Community Health Centre in Khordha district while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000.
According to reports, Sahoo had demanded the money from a complainant to process files for issuing death certificates of his deceased parents, despite an official order from the Sub‑Collector directing issuance.
Acting on the complaint, Vigilance laid a trap and caught him red‑handed.
The tainted money was recovered and seized in the presence of witnesses. Simultaneous searches were conducted at two of Sahoo’s linked premises to probe disproportionate assets.
A case has been registered at Bhubaneswar Vigilance Police Station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. The investigation is ongoing.
