Jharsuguda Police Bust IPL Betting Syndicate, Eight Arrested

Jharsuguda police have dismantled a major IPL betting racket in Brajrajnagar, arresting eight individuals and seizing cash, vehicles, and electronic devices.

Raids were conducted at Gandhi Chhak Jagannath Colony and Rampur Hilltop Officers Colony, where bookie Rahul Sahu of Rajgangpur was among those apprehended.

Authorities recovered Rs 5.09 lakh in cash, froze Rs 3.7 lakh across bank accounts, and seized 41 mobile phones, two laptops, and vehicles, including an Innova Crysta and a Maruti Baleno.

The syndicate operated through cricket live apps, luring locals with promises of quick profits and causing social and economic distress.

Police confirmed that the mastermind’s arrest is imminent, marking a significant step in dismantling organised gambling networks in the district.

SP Gundala Reddy Raghavendra briefed the press, accompanied by Brajrajnagar IIC Dhableswar Sahu and Inspector Purnima Oram, highlighting the crackdown as part of a wider effort to curb illegal betting activities in Odisha.
