Jajpur MP Demands Crime Branch Probe Into Pihu Case
Bhubaneswar: Jajpur MP Rabindra Narayan Behera has urged Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to transfer the investigation of the Pihu missing case to the Odisha Crime Branch.
Behera met the CM and highlighted the family’s long struggle for justice, stressing the need for a fair and impartial probe.
Pihu, a minor girl from Madhusudanpur village under Binjharpur police station, went missing on August 9, 2020.
Her mother, Monalisa Nayak, lodged a complaint soon after, but alleged that police delayed action. A case under Section 363 of the IPC was registered only on August 14, 2020.
Despite repeated appeals, the family claims no progress has been made in six years.
They accused then Inspector‑in‑Charge Niranjan Sabar of negligence and questioned the integrity of the initial investigation.
Behera’s intervention has revived calls for accountability and renewed hope for justice in the prolonged case.
