5-Ft Mugger Crocodile Rescued from Balimela-Chitrakonda Ghati, Odisha
Balimela-Chitrakonda Ghati, Malkangiri: A five-foot-long mugger crocodile was rescued late at night from the Balimela-Chitrakonda Ghati in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.
Acting swiftly on information received, forest field staff carried out the operation and safely secured the reptile.
The crocodile has been placed under medical observation to ensure its health and fitness.
Officials confirmed that, following Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), the reptile will be released back into its natural habitat once cleared by veterinarians.
Authorities highlighted that the timely intervention prevented potential conflict in the area, ensuring both community safety and wildlife protection.
