Heavy Rain Halts Train at Tikiri, Rayagada Floods Tracks

Heavy rainfall in Rayagada district disrupted rail services on Sunday, leaving the Koraput–Visakhapatnam passenger train stranded near Tikiri station for nearly two hours.

Torrential downpour caused waterlogging of up to two feet on the tracks, with runoff from nearby hills and an overflowing drain worsening the situation.

Railway officials halted train movement to ensure passenger safety, while waterlogging was also reported near Rauli station.

Senior engineers monitored the site and confirmed services would resume only after water receded and inspections were completed.

By noon, rainfall eased, water levels dropped, and the stranded train was cleared to continue its journey.
