Heavy Rain Alert in Odisha: IMD Issues Yellow Warning for 15 Districts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for 15 districts of Odisha, forecasting heavy rainfall activity over the next four days.

Districts under alert include Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.

According to the regional forecast, Mayurbhanj district is expected to receive heavy rain today (August 4). Tomorrow, 10 districts are likely to experience similar conditions.

From August 6 to 7, the entire state will remain under yellow alert, with thunderstorms and lightning predicted in several areas.

Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious, particularly in low‑lying and flood‑prone regions.

The IMD has advised preparedness measures to mitigate risks associated with heavy rainfall and lightning.
