Ganjam Youth Succumbs to Bomb Blast Injuries at MKCG
Berhampur: A 28‑year‑old youth from Naua Maulabhanja village in Ganjam district tragically lost his life after sustaining severe injuries in a bomb blast while grazing pigs in a forest near Mathura under Digapahandi police limits.
The victim, identified as G. Raja, was initially rushed to Digapahandi hospital and later referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. Despite efforts by doctors, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Police suspect the explosives were planted by miscreants either to poach wild animals such as wild boars or to protect crops from wildlife intrusion. Forest officials have launched an inquiry into the matter.
Following a complaint lodged by Raja’s father, G. Krishna, Digapahandi police registered a case and began investigation. The body was handed over to family members for the last rites.
The incident has raised serious concerns about illegal use of explosives in forested areas, highlighting risks to both human lives and wildlife.
