Driver Burnt Alive in Sundargarh Trailer Collision
Sundargarh, April 30: A tragic accident occurred late Wednesday night on the Bankibahal–Topria Road near the DBL office, under Hemgiri Police Station limits, when two heavy trailers collided head‑on.
One of the trailers burst into flames immediately after impact, trapping the driver inside the cabin.
Despite desperate attempts, the driver could not escape and was charred to death on the spot as the cabin crushed inward and the fire spread rapidly.
The burning vehicle continued to blaze for hours, drawing local residents and police to the site.
The Hemgiri police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident and are working to establish the identity of the deceased driver and details of the other vehicle involved.
This incident highlights the grave risks of heavy‑vehicle collisions and the urgent need for enhanced road safety measures in Odisha’s industrial corridors.
