Dr. D. Sudhakara Rao Assumes Charge as PCCIT Odisha
Bhubaneswar, April 13: Senior IRS officer Dr D. Sudhakara Rao has officially taken charge as the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (PCCIT) for Odisha Region in Bhubaneswar.
A 1990 batch officer, Dr Rao brings extensive experience from his service across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Goa, Karnataka, Puducherry, Kerala, and Maharashtra.
In addition to his Odisha role, he will also hold the additional charge of PCCIT for the Bihar and Jharkhand regions, strengthening tax administration across eastern India.
Dr Rao holds an M.Phil. in Environmental Sciences from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, and is known for his dynamic leadership in compliance, revenue mobilisation, and taxpayer services.
His appointment comes as part of a recent CBDT reshuffle of senior IRS officers.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr Rao is a sports enthusiast with interests in badminton and golf.
His spouse, Smt. D. Padma Jyothi, is a former MLA from Thiruvuru constituency in Andhra Pradesh, while their two children are MBA graduates from IIM Calicut.
This leadership change is expected to enhance efficiency and taxpayer engagement in Odisha’s Income Tax Department.
