Depression Near Nuapada to Persist for 12 Hours: IMD

Bhubaneswar, Sept 25: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that a depression over south Odisha and adjoining south Chhattisgarh continues to move north‑northwestwards at a speed of 15 kmph.

The system is currently centred near Nuapada, Odisha, at latitude 20.9°N and longitude 82.4°E, approximately 80 km east‑southeast of Raipur, 130 km south‑southwest of Champa, and 140 km south of Bilaspur.

According to the IMD, the depression is expected to maintain its intensity for the next 12 hours before weakening into a well‑marked low‑pressure area.

Continuous monitoring is being carried out by Doppler Weather Radars stationed at Sambalpur and Raipur.

The weather department has advised close observation as the system progresses, with potential implications for rainfall and localised weather conditions in Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
