Deep Depression Triggers Vigilance: Odisha Water Resources Teams Intensify Night Patrolling

Bhubaneswar: In response to heavy rainfall caused by the deep depression over Odisha, the Water Resources Department has stepped up round‑the‑clock monitoring across the state.

Engineering officers and field staff are conducting night patrols to safeguard rivers, barrages, sluices, and flood protection structures.

At Sorada Reservoir, Padma Barrage gates were operated to regulate inflow and divert excess water safely.

Vansadhara River patrols covered Sananadi Bridge, CWC Gauge Station, Haldia Sluice, and Ktwalguda village, while Rushikulya River surveillance focused on the Left Flood Bank.

Officials confirmed that 24×7 vigilance is being maintained statewide to monitor water levels and ensure timely responses to any flood risks.

The proactive measures aim to protect vulnerable communities and critical infrastructure during the ongoing weather disturbance.
