Ganjam: Tension gripped Kabisuryanagar in Ganjam district after a 32‑year‑old man, identified as Sushant Sahu of Subalaya village, died following alleged custodial torture.
According to reports, Sahu was picked up by police in connection with a case and taken to Kabisuryanagar police station.
Family members alleged that he was brutally assaulted inside the station, leading to his health deteriorating rapidly.
He was first admitted to Aska Hospital and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, where doctors declared him dead.
The incident has sparked outrage among locals, with family members holding the police responsible and demanding strict action.
Police officials have sent the body for a post‑mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.
