Boudh Police Seize 1,809 Kg Ganja Worth ₹1.80 Cr in Weeklong Raids

Boudh and Kandhamal police have intensified their crackdown on illegal ganja trade, seizing a staggering 1,809 kilograms of contraband worth Rs 1.80 crore in a series of raids conducted between May 27 and June 3, 2026.

During the operations, four individuals were arrested and five vehicles, including a 14‑wheeler truck, were confiscated.

  • On May 28, Phiringia police seized 21.2 kg and arrested Rajnish Kumar Singh of Bihar.
  • On May 30, 166.2 kg was recovered, leading to the arrest of Sujit Dehuri from Angul.
  • On June 1, 80.8 kg was seized in Sadar, with local youth Bapina Kahara taken into custody.
  • In Baliguda, 70 kg was recovered from a Swift car, though suspects fled.
  • The largest haul came on June 2, when Gochhapada police intercepted a Tata truck carrying 1,470.8 kg, arresting Yogesh Meena of Madhya Pradesh.

Police confirmed that several accused have prior records in gambling and narcotics. Cases have been registered under BNSS and the OPG Act.

Superintendent of Police Ramendra Prasad stated that regular raids will continue to dismantle the ganja smuggling network in the region.
