Bhadrak Administration Orders Closure of 131 Schools Amid Flooding

The Bhadrak district administration has announced the closure of 131 schools across four blocks — Dhamnagar, Chandbali, Bhadrak, and Tihidi — due to severe waterlogging caused by recent floods.

Officials emphasised that the safety of students is the top priority, as commuting has become hazardous in submerged areas.

The schools will remain closed until water levels recede and a ground‑level review confirms conditions are safe for reopening.

Headmasters have been instructed to sanitise drinking water sources before classes resume to prevent waterborne diseases.

The administration is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating restoration efforts to ensure minimal disruption to education.
