Mahanga IIC Injured in Ganesh Immersion Violence
Mahanga witnessed chaos late Wednesday night when Ganesh idol immersion at Bardia village spiralled into violence.
Inspector‑in‑Charge (IIC) Jugal Kishore Das of Mahanga Police Station, who was monitoring the procession, asked organisers to conclude the immersion within the permitted time.
This triggered a confrontation with youths from the Ganesh Puja Committee.
The situation escalated as the group allegedly pelted stones and bricks at the police.
IIC Das sustained serious head injuries after being struck by a brick, while the police van was completely vandalised in the attack.
Authorities have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the accused involved in the incident.
