Boipariguda School Lockout Over Land Dispute Disrupts Classes, Meals
Katrakunda village in Ramgiri Panchayat, Boipariguda block of Koraput district witnessed chaos when a local resident locked the primary school and Anganwadi centre, claiming they were built on his ancestral land.
The closure forced children to study by the roadside and halted the Mid-Day Meal program.
Parents expressed frustration as officials delayed intervention.
The Ward Member arranged temporary meals for the children. Later, Tehsildar Snigdha Choudhury and CDPO Sabita Brahma inspected land records and confirmed the property was government “Jungle Kisam” land, not private.
The lockout was declared illegal, and the gates reopened by afternoon.
Classes and Anganwadi activities resumed, but guardians demanded stricter measures to prevent future disruptions and safeguard children’s education and nutrition.
