25 Minors Rescued at Khurda Road Railway Station, Trafficking Suspected
Khurda Road, April 25: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) rescued 25 minor boys at Khurda Road Railway Station during a routine inspection of the Vasco da Gama–Amaravati Superfast Express.
The boys, hailing from West Bengal and Bihar, were reportedly travelling to Bengaluru for madrasa studies but lacked parental consent documents.
A single escort accompanying them was detained for questioning after failing to provide authorisation papers.
The operation was triggered after a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) flagged suspicious child movement from Cuttack station.
The minors were handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), while the anti‑human trafficking unit has launched an investigation to determine if organised trafficking networks are involved.
Currently, the children remain under CWC care as per legal protocols until the inquiry provides clarity.
