Woman Killed in Elephant Attack in Dhenkanal, Villagers Panic
Dhenkanal, April 26: A tragic incident occurred in Sansailo village under Valia panchayat of Dhenkanal district when a woman was killed in a sudden elephant attack.
The victim, identified as Gitanjali Sahu, had gone to the nearby forest early in the morning to collect mangoes when a wild elephant appeared and attacked her.
She sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot.
The incident has triggered fear and panic among villagers, who expressed concern over the rising cases of human-elephant conflict in the region.
Locals have urged the Forest Department to strengthen monitoring and preventive measures to avoid similar tragedies.
Forest officials reached the site and began an investigation. Details regarding compensation for the bereaved family are awaited.
