Wall Collapse in Puri Lodge Kills Migrant Worker
Puri, Odisha: A tragic accident at an under‑construction lodge on Chakra Tirtha Road claimed the life of a migrant worker on Saturday morning.
The worker, identified as Papu from Jagatsinghpur district, was trapped under debris when a wall suddenly collapsed during construction work.
Other labourers managed to escape, but Papu was critically injured.
Fire service personnel rescued him and rushed him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police from Sea Beach Station have registered a case and begun investigating whether safety protocols were followed.
Officials are examining construction materials, adherence to building norms, and worker safety measures.
The incident has sparked public concern, with demands for stricter enforcement of labour safety laws in Puri, a city witnessing rapid construction due to its tourism and pilgrimage importance.
