Balasore Railway Police Rescue 19 Minors Amid Suspected Trafficking Probe
Balasore, May 17: In a swift operation at Soro Railway Station, Railway Police rescued 27 individuals, including 19 minors, from being transported under suspicious circumstances.
The group, reportedly travelling from Kaptipada in Mayurbhanj to Angul, was accompanied by only two young men whose inconsistent statements raised alarm.
Authorities intervened before the group could board a train, handing the minors and adults over to Childline officials for counselling and verification.
The two men have been detained for questioning, with investigators probing possible links to illegal trafficking or forced religious conversion.
The incident has heightened concerns about child safety and trafficking networks operating through railway routes in Odisha.
Security agencies are expected to intensify surveillance and verification measures at major stations across the state.
